Today I had yet another run-in with a self-appointed promoter of esoteric knowledge who fancies himself as a would-be New Age guru. This has made me realise (probably much too late in the day) that I just cannot get along with these type of human beings on any sort of intellectual level. We just think completely differently. I am sure I have lots of Facebook friends who perhaps have similar viewpoints and mindsets as Gary Evans and his ilk … and that is not a problem, since you can believe what you like … but I have to make it clear to all my FB friends that: (a) I dont find any evidence that ancient aliens built the pyramids or any other ancient structures on this planet. Case so far unproved. (b) This does not mean that I dont believe there are other cultures/species out there in the universe … call them aliens if you like. Science and statistics make this prospect entirely likely. (c) I do not believe any Atlantean Hall of Records exists on the Giza plateau … but I do think the Sphinx was carved before the time of Khufu. The geology and erosion patterns prove this in my view. (d) I do not believe that statues and temples in ancient Egypt, or anywhere else for that matter, have magical powers or emit some kind of spiritual aura. Kissing and cuddling statues, lying on the floors of temples whilst meditating, chanting in the Kings Chamber of the Great Pyramid (or fornicating in the sarcophagus) is all pretentious nonsense in my eyes. That is my honest opinion and Im sorry if you dont like it, but that is how I feel. (e) I dont believe in ghosts or spirits … but I do believe that we each have a soul or whatever you want to call it. But I dont think that inanimate objects such as statues have souls. (f) I do not believe that crystals have any mysterious powers and can be used for healing or in other forms of well-being ritual. (g) I cant stand fakers, quacks and frauds, who unfortunately and sadly infest the New Age culture. (h) I dont place any value on horoscopes. There, I have said it. So if you feel that my views get in the way of our FB friendship, then please unfriend me and we can both move on … otherwise I am happy to have you as a friend here. :-)
