Today I have come up with one of the most hilarious thing in my life.One of the female guard came up to me and said that didi you are not supposed to talk to anyone near the hostel as I was in my shorts, even though I didnt venture out of the hostel gates. Why the people here are so cheap minded? Do they want me to cover up from top-bottom or drape myself in a burkha while going out even between the shutters of my hostel? I really want to know whats wrong if I or any other girls wear shorts in the campus? Why the hell we girls have to face such thing? In other institutions, girls and boys are allowed to venture out freely inside the campus till late at night like at canteen, library etc. They can have good interactions and take active part in events, but here even talking to a boy that too in shorts is a crime. Thats why in our college, we have such poor interaction and the wide gap between girls and boys are very much evident here. The girls cant even stay at the library to study at the night. Why dont the people here change their mentality? When too much restrictions are imposed the people automatically turn narrow minded. Boys can wear whatever they want to but why not us? There is no such issue in any other campus regarding restrictions on the whereabouts of the girls inside the campus. Why do we have to face so much in our campus? Its not a college but more like a convent school. We girls know what to wear,when and where. Instead of confining the girls in a cage, more emphasis should be given on how to develop the skills of the girls encourage active participation and bridge the vast gap between the boys and girls. I think reinforced sense of discernment and respect for conduct should be inculcated. True character is reflected in how we behave, not how we dress. PS: No offense
