Today, I woke early to the most horrible news I have ever had to - TopicsExpress

Today, I woke early to the most horrible news I have ever had to endure. Overnight, my big cousin who grew up so close to us as our big sister, was found deceased in her apartment. I woke to my mothers broken voice echoing down the phone, barely able to speak her name, white noise hysteria in the background. This is not how it is supposed to be, parents cannot bury their children. Please, I beg of everyone and anyone dealing with mental illness, addictions, stress or even just a bad day, reach out to those around you. It is nothing to be ashamed of to reach for help and support, it is nothing to be humiliated by to admit you cannot cope, it is nothing to be embarrassed by to collapse and crumble on the support of your family and friends. And I beg of everyone, you over estimate your mortality every single day, you will all assume you have one extra day to say I love you, I appreciate you, your existence is important to me, or Im sorry. Dont over estimate the time you have to do this. Say these things, do good deeds, think before you speak, do not judge others for their actions, their mistakes, help those in need, dont trivialise and make an issue out of nothing, call your friends and ask how their day was, celebrate each others achievements, pump each other up, kiss your loved ones, call your parents and tell them you appreciate them, travel far & wide, experience every single thing to its fullest, the highest highs, the lowest lows, allow yourself to feel, give so much love it exhausts you, be thankful you have a roof over your head, food, jobs, friends, family, ensure your children are safe and happy and comfortable and loved by their parents, by their step parents, by each person & relative around them so they know they are supported, be thankful for the people that support you and those around you, feel your own heartbeat and know you are put here with purpose. Spread awareness, talk about it and remove the stigma & ignorance that has produced a world that does not understand mental illness, that accepts all parts of your body breaking down bar your mentality, and that associates a negative connotation with mental health. We need to understand, accept, and associate a positive environment. Rest in Peace Rachelle. Im sorry.
