Today Our Heavenly Father called home another Good Man. Known affectionately to many as The Quiet Vincent Abate was 97 he left us with the presence of mind of a 30yr old. Most of us leave this world with with knowing we have served our friends and family well and thats enough. Uncle Jimmy however started on his lifes path as an alter boy growing to be a man that served his country in WWII. When he came home he married and began to raise a family while opening the Kist Soda Company. Later he went on to become a Senior NYS Court Clerk but not before becoming a local politician and community activist. After the City closed Greenpoint Hosp Williamsburg was left without a nearby Hospital Uncle Jimmy was instrumental in convincing the city to provide his community with local emergency health facility care. He went on to become Chairman of the Board at Woodhull Hospital for the next 20 years. During this time with the help of the wife he loved so dearly he raised his children and went on to become the Chairman of the Board for Community Board 1. And more than a dozen other civic organizations. There is a reason they called his generation The Greatest Generation. His is a lifetime contribution that any man or woman would be happy to have. Rest in peace Uncle Jim you will live forever in the hearts and minds of many of us
