It is no different than hiring an electrician, having a mechanic fix your car, or paying the dentist to fixed a chipped tooth - each of these professions took years of training and dedication, and while you yourself possess the ability to learn those skills, it likely is not on your path to learn each one, and so to respect that professional for helping you with something you needed that you otherwise would not have been able to receive, you pay them to show respect and gratitude.
