Today in my Logic class, during the grading of our quiz, I was - TopicsExpress

Today in my Logic class, during the grading of our quiz, I was marked wrong on on a few questions. I questioned the wrongness of two of them though, but the teacher insisted that they were wrong, at least, according to the answer key that the author gave. The first answer in question was over the need to label the term Hard surface: Hard life (with both hards underlined) either univocal, equivocal, or analogical. I labeled it as equivocal, seeing that the first hard means the opposite of soft, whereas the second hard means difficulty. The answer key, however, stated that the true answer is analogical. It was argued that hard describing life is an analogy. I argued that it is a literal adjective describing life as difficult. I would find it analogical if it said something like Hard surface: Hard-headed, but in this case, I saw the second hard as a literal adjective used to describe reality. Since I saw it as that, not as an analogy, I believe my answer was correct. The second answer in question was over the need to circle the given multiple choices for the given terms. These terms needed to be in the order of increasing comprehension. The given was 1. Bird 2. Living Creature 3. Winged Creature 4. Eagle. I chose the answer that arranged them as 2,3,1,4. The correct answer though, according to the answer key, was the arrangement 2,1,3,4. When I analyzed this more, a question came to my mind: Should Winged Creature precede Bird, or be put after it as the answer key said? Considering that bats are winged creatures, but are not birds, how can Bird precede Winged Creatures, if not all winged creatures are birds? Even if no creature was winged, except birds, how could Bird precede Winged Creatures (in that given reality) if being a bird means to be winged? With that, itd be synonymous, thus redundant to add it as an extra term within the arrangement. However, since reality says that there are winged creatures other than birds, I believe my answer was correct in saying that Winged Creatures precedes Bird. I am not really 100% sure about the first answer in question, but I feel that the answer key might have been wrong on that, considering the context of hard and the way it was used. The second one, however, is something that I am 100% sure of, and disagree with. I could be wrong though, and both of my answers should remain as wrong if I am wrong... but I am curious if anyone has any input into this regarding my answers being marked as errors. Any opinions?
