Today is a bittersweet day. Today Solei is starting a new chapter in her life. Today Solel is officially retired as a Grand Prix horse; she is going to live out her days as a brood mare for Fridays Child Farm and Beth Colle. I have pondered for months over this decision and I can not think of a better way for her to live her days.....green pastures.....foals playing.....she will be an exceptional mother. She will be an exceptional producer. She will have the best care at Fridays Child Farm. Solei deserves to live the rest of her days in such a manner as she tried for me more than I ever knew.....after exploratory surgery we discovered that she has little to no cartilage in her right stifle from a past injury. If she should become rideable again I feel that she deserves to rest. For years the cartilage has been slowly flaking away, yet for years she has tried her hardest to be a Grand Prix horse with good times and bad. But, for me she did it. Her highlights were not only numerous National winnings, but in the end a 72% in the Grand Prix Special. She kept getting better. I am so proud of her. I have learned so much from this mare that expands beyond the realms of riding. Thank you Momma you will always have a place in my soul. She gives me hope that we can create a pipeline for her future foals as our future International Grand Prix horses. If any horse is capable of producing such quality, athleticism, and will; she is. We all are so fortunate that our horses work so hard for us everyday. Give your horses lots of carrots today in honor of Solei.
