Today marks another episode of El Salvador political challenges, with the FMLN leading the tolls it seems that people are supporting the formula to start focusing in social issues. The election for a second term means that the FMLN must start showing more results to the countries violence and economic struggles of our people. Prevention and intervention with reentry programs with job opportunities must be integrated into the vast challenges of violence in our country. It seems that no one has notice that today also marks the 2nd anniversary of a gang truce that has saved over 5000 lives and reduced violence by 50%. The next government leaders need to invest in prison reform and bring forth strategies that bring forward real change not just a temporary solution. The truce is a big opportunity to invest in a long term goal to not eradicate but understand the reasons why our children are destroying themselves through violence and confront those problems. Today is a historic day, not for the left or to the right but for the people of El Salvador that want real changes in our country.
