Tonight i visited for the last time, one of my favorite people ever. My first secretary when I became principal at Knott county Vocational school passed away over the weekend. I mention this because you will not see her mentioned on the news as being a great community personality. She was a shy person that would hide behind me every chance she got. I had to make her use the intercom. She hated anything that wasnt standard procedure. change frustrated her as bad as it does me. The day i became principal, she welcomed me and told me how happy she was that i was her new boss. We had vaguely known each other for years. A few hours into my first day i asked her to do something, I cant remember what, and when i looked up she was shooting me the bird. Thus, the tone was set for the next several years. You get to know someone pretty good when your in the same office with them 260 days a year 8 hours a day. In our time together there was nothing that we didnt talk about or do to each other. I never told her that it was me that rigged the toilet to squirt water under the lid when you flushed it. I was afraid too. There was never a dull moment, i was never sure what she would do next. Her simple ways and lifestyle were comical to watch. I loved pushing her buttons as she did mine. The day she retired she told me i had restored her faith in Humanity. Im glad I did that Jane, Rest in peace my friend and Godspeed.
