Tonight was almost an AMAZING night at Greys Lake. I found my running pace almost immediately and ran further and easier than ever, even though I slacked last week. Pika was glad to be running with me--he needed it, too. Getting attacked by two dogs was unnecessary. The first, a big black lab, charged at us, barking, completely off a leash or collar. I picked Pika up and did the only thing I could think of: put the front of me up against a tree and side kicked at the dog. He didnt bite us, but he was right on us when his four people grabbed him away. The other was a medium sized dog being walked by a three year old. I understand you and your kid thinks its cute, but when your dog pulls away and tries to attack us, its not. I didnt yell at them, but I wanted to tell them that if their dog HAD bit us, he might have had to be legally put down, which would be absolutely cruel to that kid. Then I found a place to get down by the water. The sun came out, reflected beautifully, lit up the sunflowers all around.... and I just sobbed. That stuff really shook me up. After that, we continued our run, and it was beautiful. I brought Pika home, and Im going to go do it again.
