Transition to Eternal Life: Late Elizabeth Echa Oko (1978 - 2013) The funeral ceremonies for my late younger sister, Elizabeth Echa Oko, who died two weeks ago will take place at Yala House, Opposite Christ the King School, Okpoma - Abakaliki road, Okpoma, Yala LGA, Cross River State on June 15 - 16, 2013. The three phase ceremony will include the Farewell Prayer Service, which shall be a prayer service held by family members and close friends. This is to thank God for the life of our dear daughter, sister, wife and mother on earth, to have been born and to have lived for the period she lived on earth and for the opportunity to die a peaceful death. The second aspect shall be the Public Ceremony, which shall be ceremony celebrating the her life featuring lying in state, songs, testimonies, and sermons and speeches/special messages on the real meaning of life and death. The third and final aspect shall be the Returning Home Ceremony, which shall be the final burial service that will feature interdenominational service, testimonies, etc. This aspect of the ceremony shall feature the special Launch of the Elizabeth Echa Oko Memorial Holy Children Scholarship Scheme that will support the registration and payment of fees for children interested in attending the Holy Child Convent School, Okpoma from September 2013. The returning home ceremony shall have a joyful atmosphere since it is a celebration of the life of our departing daughter, sister, wife and mother and her transition to the spiritual world. The ceremony is NOT a mourning and/or crying ceremony for a dead person but a celebration of the life of a person passing into the eternal world. White and light colored clothing, and not the traditional black, should be worn by those who will participate at the graveside ceremony. If you are around Okpoma and can join us to bid our sister farewell to the eternal world, please, feel free to come. Join us to pray for her safe journey into the spiritual world and to rest in peace.
