Tuesday Morning Bible Study @ CCC was powerful! As my Hannah would say, We got turnt by the Holy Ghost! The word of knowledge from the Lord shook me: do NOT leave this room and FORGET what I have told you! He said so much more but that one sentence confronted me, pointed finger at me and said, You! Yes, you...I am talking to YOU!. Everything He said up to and after that one pivotal sentence was a command and a warning. The warning: time is SHORT! The command: be obedient to the commission because LIVES depend on it! And then He strikes where I struggle the most - REMEMBERING! How easy it is for me to forget, or do this in remembrance of, or stay focused, or on target. How easy it is to be silly, or frivolous, or caught up in the empty nothingness of daily wants that drown out His desires to strengthen my faith through perseverance. I forget to press towards the mark. I forget to endure. I forget to hang on. I forget to tarry a little while longer. I especially forget to stop making it about ME! And in all my forgetting lives are at risk! Including mine. And so I forget some more. Then, without really knowing it, I begin to dig a hole and in it I put my talents. I cover them up nicely out of fear - but God is not a spirit of fear. I hide them under a bushel - but He wants me to be that City on a Hill. I hide them to blend in - but He tells me to be a peculiar people and not of this world. And so I hide. Sundays come and Sundays go and we all come in and go out with all this knowing and very little doing. Front pew fat babies looking for another heavy revy to say amen to. We waddle in but run out. But where are we running to? Not to the harvest, thats for sure! The gospel has been perverted and we offer up sacrifices of praise with sin on our hands and in our hearts. It is an offering full of spot and blemish, and God comes when we call? Its called offering up strange fire and there is a spiritual death that has come into our midst because of it! We are asleep in the Light! WAKE UP! Time is SHORT! We come before a Holy God with unholy motives and say arrogant things like, I am blessed and our faith is only as strong as all those things that are holding us up - our luxury car, or well paid job, our health, or spouse or sprawling home. He has called us to be warriors to fight the good fight - our swords are dull! We have made peace with our Goliaths and so we dont have to fight! Jesus has told each of us, Come. Follow me. but we only go as far as the pew we occupy each Sunday service. The alter is too far of a stretch for us so lets stay where it is comfortable. He sees my heart, right? Yes, He does and its complacent! He works better with cold. Lukewarm is a dangerous place to be. Jesus died. He didnt just die - He was brutally beaten to death. On a cross He was split open and bled out. For what? For our piddly little feel good Sunday worship? For our Lord, please bless me with... prayers? For our empty Hallelujahs? Get real! He died and we owe Him a life debt! Pick UP your cross and start following. Follow Him all the way up that hill and die to self because guess what? Its no longer about YOU. You are the 99 - it is now about the one. Become that peculiar people, that City on the Hill, having the confidence and mind of Christ to take dominion, march into the enemies camp and do great exploits for the Kingdom of God because LIVES depend on it! Make a purchase - He encourages us to buy from Him gold refined by fire. Its called being purified through trials. Doesnt sound like a prayer we are told to pray very often. Why? That involves sacrifice. Sacrifice involves dying. Dying hurts. But to die is gain. Start dying! Turn over every area of your life, strip every part away, seek until you find and knock until you get an answer and do not stop until you get His understanding that your life is not your own - it is HIS, He paid for it in full and He has the stripes to prove it! Now get busy. Time is short!
