Twitch Plays Pokemon. Thousands of Chatters on Twitch were all playing the same game of pokemon, all controlling the same character. This resulted in the character doing things randomly and spinning in circles because of everyone hitting different buttons. Because of the many various mistakes the character made, the chatters spawned memes the grew into its own little story. For instance, the player constantly ended up opening up the items and tried to use the Helix fossil. Players interpreted this as the player consulting the helix fossil for advice thus spawn a religious-like behavior. The random names they came up for their pokemon also turned into various nicknames; Like AAAATTTVVV the all terrain venomoth and Bird-jesus, named because piggeot was their most powerful pokemon for a long time. There were dark times however like how trips to the PC would result in accidental releases, like that of their Charmeleon, Abby... Many blamed Flareon for that one; the false prophet and servant of the dome fossil In the end, after nearly 400 hours of playing none stop the twitch players managed to beat the game.-Chris Monti (random fb poster).
