Two brothers have been jailed for conspiracy to burgle in areas across two Forces including Maidenhead in Berkshire. The pair were sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday 11 July after pleading guilty to a conspiracy to burgle charge during an earlier court hearing. Scott Blundell, aged 23, of Tower Field Sqaure, Northampton, was jailed for a total of five years and four months after pleading guilty to one charge of conspiracy which encompassed 19 separate burglaries. His brother Jack, aged 21, of Windsor Crescent, Harrow, was jailed for four years after pleading guilty to one charge of conspiracy which encompassed 14 separate burglaries. The pair were arrested as part of an operation led by Thames Valley Police following burglaries reported in Maidenhead, Aylesbury, Thame, Oxfordshire in the Thames Valley and Romsey, Shirley and Basset near Southampton in Hampshire. The breakdown of the conspiracy charge, which consisted of 24 burglaries in total, is as follows, although not all are included in the guilty pleas: • Five offences in Romsey, Hampshire, on Friday 14 February (Hogarth Close; Stapleford Close; Ashley Meadows; Beverley Gardens; and Brook Way) • Four offences in Bassett, Hampshire, on Sunday 16 February (The Parkway; Glenwood Avenue; Copperfield Road; and Athlestan Road) • One offence in Shirley, Hampshire on Monday 24 February (Malvern Road) • Five offences in Cox Green, Maidenhead, on Friday 28 February (Bedford Close; three offences in Bissley Drive; and Lillibrooke Crescent) • Four offences in Aylesbury on Sunday 2 March (Edward Close; Diane Close; Charmfield Road; and Charles Close) • Five offences in Bucks on Tuesday 4 March (Hazelrig Drive; three offences in Henrietta Road and Overton Drive) All burglaries were committed late at night or in the early hours of the morning. The brothers targeted insecure front doors which had not been double locked with a key by the occupants prior to them going to bed for the night. PC Michael Sharp, the officer involved in the cross-border operation, said: “I am pleased with the sentencing, which should act as a deterrent to anyone wishing to engage in such criminality. “Their arrest and subsequent conviction is a result of a cross-border police operation led by TVP which saw many departments working together. I believe this helped the pair admit their guilt and submit guilty pleas, saving the need for a costly and lengthy trial. “The offences started in Southampton in mid February this year and stopped after the pair’s arrest in High Wycombe the following month (March). The pair have been on remand ever since their arrest and will now be going back to prison to serve lengthy sentences.”
