Typically I would never promote anything related to Noam Chomsky. (CHOMSKY is basically a Gate-Keeper of sorts for over a third of the political-left, =keeping them focused and on their reservation, along with Gor va Dol…) -but anyway,,,(his irrational politics aside) his work here as a Linguist, about the nature of how humans conceive of reality is interesting stuff. (too bad he never applied that much logic to his political-thinking) -but,,,his basic idea promoted in this Documentary, which might be his last appearance in this way as far as organized-media goes, =he is getting ready to retire and you can see in this movie that it was a bit of a strain on him. Anyway, his most interesting idea that i have ever herd him talk about is here, and it is=what is Reference ? =what is Referentialism ? =is our Mind just a pattern-recognition-device???, -and thus referencing to historical-past ONLY ?(he attempts to do this through the illustration of SYNTAX -And uses that as a analogy to revealing =Mental-Myntax) -Why oder things the way we do, and how does that give them meaning??? Typically I would say that the human-brain/mind system is a: Pattern-Recognition Based ONLY, thus the most common logic-flaw is False-Equivocation and that leads to Conflations…(confusing two things with one) -but is there also another system their as well in which we process data??? that allows for non-referentialism???…(in my opinion it is accessed through the process/discovery and practice of Contemplation=which is a very Rational PROCESS/thing to engage in, since science is based on doubt and thus doubting anything is thus a form of Contemplation. You only investigate stuff that you dont know=otherwise why are you investigating it??? If you can withstand the thick French-Accent of the narrator, then you might enjoy this film as a Contemplation...
