U.S. Highway 24 begins in Oakland County, MI and ends in Minturn, CO. It is 1,540 miles long. We are leaving it in Colorado Springs to head southwest, then northwest to Gunnison. These old highways are interesting and long stretches have been supplanted by Interstate highways in my lifetime. Building and maintaining these incredible and necessary thoroughfares at public expense is but one huge example of how our government actually does create jobs.
