Customer can book cabs through a smart phone app. So far, the service has been exceptional and they have expanded significantly in certain cities Cabs are available for one way journeys for any distance as long as its within the city They charge a minimum of Rs. 100 per cab ride The rates are very competitive Small and Large cars are available The drivers are very good. They are rated based on how safely they drive and how good their service is Only cars of a certain brand are accepted and these cars cannot be older than 5 years Payment is made through credit card only and the app automatically calculates the fare through GPS (no chance of fraud by driver) Drivers are provided training on customer service Drivers take home approximately Rs. 10K-20K per week. Significantly more than what they make elsewhere Company arranges loans for drivers who are currently working for Uber through a cab company if their ratings are good Uber makes 3% on every ride All in all, the company provides great experience for the consumer, provides employment to drivers and brings in professionalism to the mass taxi service. Their competitors are crying foul and expect sympathy because Uber is an American company. Instead, these companies should look at their model and try to better themselves.
