UPDATE ON MAMA AND BABIES: The Mama Dachshund is doing very well. With a full belly and a warm place to sleep she is thriving and so are the five remaining babies. We did loose the smallest one of the group. He never got above 3 ounces no matter what we did. He passed peacefully snuggled up with his mom yesterday. The five babies are 4 boys and 1 girl. They are all above 2 pounds now and their eyes have officially opened. They got moved to larger quarters today. The large heating pad we got for Christmas is sure great with these guys. Mama is happier in a larger space and she can actually get away from them for a little while if she wants to. We havent come up with a name for her yet. Any suggestions would be great. She responds to Mama for now. She is a loveable girl and really good about letting us help take care of her babies. She will make an excellent family member when she is ready to be adopted. Happy New Year for this Mama and baby as they get a shot at a life by coming here to North Iowa.
