UPDATE on Typhoon Rammasun (Glenda) from Director of International Assessments and Response, Paddy Durrant: “Typhoon Rammasun, known locally as Glenda, has now left the Philippines. It made landfall Tuesday afternoon and passed through South East Luzon on route to Metro Manila early Wednesday morning. Wind speeds were recorded at 140kph with gusty winds up 170kph. All Hands Volunteers assessment team has been closely monitoring the Typhoon and is now checking for damage reports left behind in Rammasun’s wake. Reports indicate approximately 370,000 people left their homes to seek refuge in designated evacuation shelters. Numerous areas within the Luzon region are currently without power and thousands of people are stranded waiting for transport services to resume. We will continue our communications with partners on the ground and to assess the extent of damage caused by Typhoon Rammasan. All Hands Volunteers stand willing and ready to offer support and assistance”
