US 59 at FM 1988 in Goodrich is now open to traffic after being closed earlier today due to an accident involving an 18 wheeler. The US 190 Bridge at the Polk/San Jacinto County Line has opened to traffic. Motorists should use caution when traveling across this facility. Crews have applied rock to improve traction but there is still ice present. The southbound and northbound bridges of US 59 at Loop 287 S in Lufkin remain closed due to ice. Weather conditions will determine when the facility will open to traffic. A current look at the ice build-up could mean keeping it closed until Saturday. Again motorists are reminded to slow down and drive to the current conditions. Normal speeds are too high for icy roads.
