Ugh. I cannot express fully how completely sad I am about the passing of Robin Williams. Many little phrases come to my mind when I think of him and his body of work: nanu nanu, shazbot, goooooood morning Vietnaaaaaam, Oh Captain, My Captain. Acting at its absolute best. Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Alladin, One Hour Photo, The Fisher King... All amazing, and soooooo many more. I think about fame and how it can change people and skew their sense of the world and people in it, but most importantly, realize how real and how serious mental health and mental illness are. I found out of his passing right before playing a private fundraiser for the Foundation of Excellence in Mental Health Care. Wow. Serendipitous life. Music heals. People heal people. Listen to each other. Be there for one another. My eyes keep welling up.
