Unvieling,50 TOP OYO POLITICIAN READY 2 WORK with LADOJA 4 2015 guber ambition!!!!!As AKALA’s Ex-Deputy, ARAPAJA Joins ACCORD ***** As the 2015 general elections draw close, the intrigues rocking the political terrain in Oyo State have continued to be interesting day after day. As the big players in the various political parties are coming up with different strategies to secure victory during the coming elections, the polity in the state has now become so charged. The incumbent Governor of the State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has already signified his intention to run for another term in office come February 2015, and that move expectedly has been facing a stiff challenge from opposition politicians, who will not stop at anything to send the the Ajimobi-led APC government packing from the Agodi Government house on May 29, 2015. Governor Ajimobi is facing a tough opposition against his ambition to stay beyond this date from the PDP, which his party defeated to come to power and an army of a good number of his former aides (who served in his government) who have teamed up with other politicians in the state to form the Labour Party, which is currently gaining grounds. However, the Governor’s biggest obstacle at the momemt seem to be the gigantic opposition force led by a former Governor of the State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja. The ex- Governor has been able to form a vibrant political movement, the Accord Party, which has now become a talking point throughout the state. It could be recalled that Ladoja contested in the Governorship election in 2011 on the platform of the party and he put up a very strong showing at the polls. Though he didn’t win, the party won 8 State Assembly seats and won 4 House of Reps seats. Since then, Ladoja and his loyalists have been building on the strength of the party and they are well set to battle for the control of the state come 2015, with wide reports that Ladoja will be giving the Governorship seat another shot this time again. A lot of factors have been working well for the Accord Party in the past months, which have made it one of the main contenders for power in the coming election. The party has been recording a high influx of influential members of influential politicians who have dumped their former political parties, especially the PDP. It is a known fact that the Accord Party was formed by former members of the PDP who dumped the party after a series of crises before the 2011 elections. A large chunk of the politicians who stayed put then in the PDP and worked with immediate-past Governor, Otunba Alao Akala have now moved to the Accord Party. The politicians, most of who served in the Akala administration have now swithed camp to now teem up with Ladoja, who used to be their boss before Akala became Governor. A good number of big ex-PDP chieftains have decamped to Accord Party. The latest big fish that is moving into Accord Party from the PDP, City People has exclusively gathered is Akala’s deputy between 2007 and 2011, Hon. Taofeek Arapaja. The former House of Reps Member and staunch Ibadan politician is dumping the PDP to team up with Ladoja in the Accord Party with a massive team of other influential Ibadan big political players, we have reliably gathered. Arapaja is joining AP with Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Ibadan North, Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East; Hon Demola Omotosho, Hon Ademola Ige and Hon Gbenga Adewusi (Arole), (who were key men of ex- Governor Akala) among many other key politicians. City People sources hinted that the Arapaja team had held the final harmonisation meeting with the Ladoja team to finalise how to absorb the new entrants into the party and everything has been concluded. The date and venue of the grand rally where Arapaja and his team will declare for Accord Party will be announced in few days, we learnt. In fact, some of the incoming members have been assigned key exco posts in the party, we also gathered. The new team joining the Accord Party will be joining efforts with other key politicians spread across the state, who are already working for the 2015 project of the party and as at now, there hasn’t been any other person aspiring to contest for the Governorship post in the coming election apart from Senator Ladoja, the party leader. The Ladoja 2015 movement has various key members of the party who are handling the execution of the projects in their various regions in the state. In the Ibadan division, where Ladoja is well rooted, there are many big politicians who are also working on the 2015 project. The list includes; Ayodele Adigun, the former Special Duties Commissioner and later SSG during Ladoja’s administration in 2003-2007, Hon Babatunde Olaniyan (Akoro) the Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly who leads 6 other Acccord Party members of the house, Barrister Bayo Lawal. Hon MTayo Sarumi, Chief Akin Oshun, Dr. Remi Ayodele, Hon Olayemi (former chairman of Ibadan North West), Dr Soji Ajaja and Soji Akanbi. Serving Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Chief Femi Lanlehin who recently dumped Gov. Ajimobi’s APC with his supporters for the Accord Party is also a part of the movement. One of the key men in the Akala government, and former Education Commissioner, Dr Nureni Akanbi, has also joined the Accord Party and he is working so well towards the coming elections. In the Ibarapa region, Ladoja’s key men include 84 year old Chief Kolawole, a highly repected politician of many decades from Ibarapa East, and Honourable Bimbo Adepoju also from the same Local Government. Ex- ALGON Boss and 3 term Chairman of Ibarapa Central, Hon Ademola Obafemi Ojo, who dumped the PDP for Accord Party last year, is also a major force in the movement. Demola Ojo, who is nursing the ambition to pick the party’s Senatorial ticket for Oyo South is a maverick grassroots mobiliser and his influence has boosted the lots of the party in the region. Also in Ibarapa Central, the party has Hon. Eyiande Elejire and Hon Ademola Babarinde, a former full time commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission. In Ibarapa North, the party has people like Alhaji Mukaila Aborode, the influential Commissioner for Environment during the Akala administration, who has also dumped PDP and a UK-returnee and Super rich technocrat, Dr Aborode. In Oke Ogun, influential politicians like Hon Muda Ogunshola and Engineer Ademola Dele Ademola, popularly known as Abba (both former Chairmen of Saki East Local Government. Hon. Ademola, popularly known as Agbarapo, the Majority Leader in the immediate past Legislative Assembly in Oyo State from Atisbo LG, who was a strong pillar of the PDP in Oke Ogun recently decamped to Accord party with his supporters at a massive rally held in Tede. He is now working for the 2015 agenda of Ladoja and his team. The immediate past Chairman of Irepo Local Government, popularly known as Santana, has also joined the movement. Others include; Alhaji Lati Komi, Alhaji Lati Giwan HonM Dauda Alaraje, Alhaji A.Y Azeez, Chief Olanrewaju (Jagunmolu of Otu), Hon. Muhameda Raji, Dr Hassam Shittu (from Orelope LG), Hon Ayo Olanrewaju, Alhaja Muinat Olona (from Iseyin) and Barrister Raji (SAN). In the Oyo/ Ogbomosho region, the Ladoja movement also has a good number of strong politicians. Chief Bisi Ilaka, who contested for the Oyo Central Senatorial post in 2011 is still leading the movement in the Oyo zone. The influential politician who hails from Oyo has been working with some other big politicians to secure victory for the party come 2015. He is also favoured to pick the Senatorial ticket of the zone again in the coming election. A former Deputy Speaker and later Speaker of the OYHA, Hon Adeolu Ademola from Afijio Local Government is also holding forth in that region, so also is the one time Speaker of the OYHA, Hon. Ashimiyu Alarape from Oyo town, who is joing the Accord Party from the PDP with Hon. Arapaja and co. Hon. Ogunmola, the former chairman of Oyo West Local Government and Alhaji Obabi from Oyo West are also working for the movement. In Ogbomosho, the 2 children of the late Premier of the Western Region, Chief S.L Akintola, who are playing big in politics are both in Accord Party. As things stand now, the Ladoja-led Accord Party has been extending his tentacles accross the state, all in a bid to get to power in the state come 2015
