Utter rubbish! The only way to prevent illegal immigration would be to impose an unacceptable and unaffordable military and police state! If we leave the EU, there will be an exponential rise in illegal immigration - and in our already significant, untaxed, black economy! What a joke - on us! Most people do not realise how theyre being conned about the protection of our borders. Its impossible for military and civilian radar and satellite monitoring to identify and follow up more than a small portion of the hundreds of thousands of daily vehicle plots; and many are not even radar plottable, due to geography. In reality our borders are like a huge sieve - full of holes. Our islands have 20,000 miles of coastal border, plus our land border with the Irish Republic (and Scotland soon?). Only a miniscule proportion of total incoming boats and aircraft, including at main air and sea ports, is currently physically monitored or searched for unauthorised passengers and goods,let alone people and goods offloaded at sea, for fishing boats and leisure craft to pick up and bring ashore subsequently. We have practically non-existent, laughable, coastal border and coastguard ship, boat and aircraft resources, completely inadequate for todays transportation and communications world and the capabilities of criminals. Our coastguard is primarily a safety etc body, and not a border patrol force. The Royal Navy has one ship on call for the whole of Britain! We have a national Coastwatch Institution, a sort of dads army of volunteers to report anything suspicious to local police,; it leaves the majority of our coast completely unwatched! To monitor and search every incoming boat or aircraft, even if we knew of their existence, and subsequently “catch” those that still slip through, by day or night, in all weathers, would require the imposition of a military and police state and all its associated financial and other costs!
