Very sad news to report. One of LBRs permanent foster dogs is being put down this morning. Our beloved Winnie, lovingly fostered by Barbara and Don McDonald, is now suffering as a result of advanced mammary cancer. She was diagnosed and had surgery in August 2013. Dr Brian removed as much of the cancer as he could but it had already metastasized. She had a wonderful year with Barbara and Don. She was part of the family and traveled with them on several vacations. Thanks, Barbara and Don, for making her last year one filled with love and warmth. For anyone out there with an unspayed female, this is what can happen when you leave a female intact. Very sad and very preventable. Thank you, Dr Gina, for taking such good care of Winnie this morning. May she rest in peace.
