Veterans Day was originally Armistice Day. An Armistice is a Truce. In 1918 on 11-11 at 11:00am GMT a truce ( a ceasefire) was signed by the warring powers of the Great War (1914-1918). The firing would begin again in the second phase of this Great War and would be known as World War 2. We could say with Geico that “everybody knows that” or at least most people know this. What most people do not know are the ideas that were behind the Great War. I would venture to say that most people don’t even consider the consequences of ideas very often. We have been conditioned in a kind of Marxist way to think that things are just the way they are due to materialistic forces and forget the ideas that proceded. But as Lord Maynard Keynes has said, “The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed, the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually slaves of some defunct economist or philosopher.” With that in mind, consider this short Youtube explaining the dangerous idea behind WW1 and WW2 (The 2nd and 3rd Reich) and consider the fact that this idea is presently the leading idea at our universities.
