Via TIME: “Had the circumstances been a little bit different, I think the president himself would have liked to be there, [White Houes press secretary Josh Earnest] said. “This was not a decision that was made by the President, Earnest added. Earnest blamed the short timeframe in which the event came together for keeping American leaders from attending, as well as U.S. security requirements which would have been onerous for other attendees. “We’re talking about a march that came together in about 36 hours, and a march that took place outdoors, Earnest said, adding that had Obama or Biden attended, it would have significantly impacted the ability of those in attendance to participate like they did yesterday.
