Video of meeting place for the protest against ban against Sikhs wearing kirpans on jury duty set for April 29th 8AM in front of the Sutter County Courthouse in Yuba City California. I, Gursant Singh have been ordered to appear for juror duty in the Superior Court of Sutter County but I have been told by the Sutter County juror Commissioner that I will not be allowed to enter the courthouse with my kirpan so I am asking my Sikh brothers and sisters to join me in front of the courthouse at 8:00AM on Tuesday the 29th of April to protest. We should have some TV stations covering this protest so bring your friends to give a strong showing for the Sikh way of life. There are more Sikhs living in Yuba City & Sutter county then any other area of America. The Sutter County Superior Court needs to change their policy and allow Sikhs to wear kirpans on Jury Duty in order to show their tolerance & freedom for all religions. Write me with questions or comments at: Gurusant@Hotmail or call 505 903 2675 According to the Panthic Sikh Rehit Maryada the Kakkaar or Article of Faith is a Strapped Sword (ਕਿ੍ਰਪਾਨ ਗਾਤਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ). sikhanswers/sikh-articles-of-faith-identity/mini-kirpan-in-a-necklace-strapped-kirpan/ At all Amrit Sanchaars that follow Gur Maryada the Panj Piyaare state that wearing a Kirpan on string, cord or necklace is not acceptable as a Kakkaar. The Kirpan is a Shastar (protective weapon) and therefore wearing it on a string or cord is not practical. The Kirpan can be be of any size, however it is must be practical to use and not blunt. Some people justify the compromise of the 5 Ks to wear a mini Kirpan on a string, cord or necklace for when having a shower or bath. This not in accordance to Gurmat. When washing the hair (Kesh) the Kirpan can be kept on the body and the small turban (Keski) is wrapped around the waist in which you can place the Kangha (small comb) or tie around the Kirpan. When one washes the body, then the small turban (Keski) is tied on the head. The Kirpan with its strap (Gatra) is wrapped around the small turban to keep it secure when bathing.
