WARNING: The following is a rant about my personal analysis on the main event of Metamoris 3! Please give it a read... Id also appreciate some feedback and good conversation on this subject from truly passionate Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Thank you. After watching the Eddie/Royler fight multiple times and hours of analyzing, heres my thoughts.... Some people love 10th Planet JJ and swear by it and feel they dont need anything else, some people totally write it off and hate on it, and then some people like me are cross trainers and like to learn whatever from where ever making their own paths in BJJ. I honestly feel that using the entire 10th Planet curriculum works for some people and only certain aspects of it for others (but thats any system not just exclusively 10PJJ). That is my humble opinion and Im entitled to it as I am a 27 year old free American. To me, this epic battle proved one thing. To totally disregard a particular game or style will get you into trouble!!! Royler had almost a year to prepare for this fight and never once did we hear of him training with any 10th planet oriented practitioners. Never once did we know of him trying to learn anything about the techniques in the 10th Planet curriculum. The information about Eddies quarter guard, lockdown, dog fight, electric chair, stoner control, vaporizer and so much more is out there on the net FOR FREE to learn and utilize! Had Royler taken the time to soak this knowledge up, I believe whole heartedly we may have seen a match that was not so one sided. Moral of the story folks is what Rickson Gracie always said... A mind is like a parachute, it works best when open! Keep an open mind! Learn peoples games and techniques! You may never use them yourself, but if youre familiar with how they work, it just might save your ass should you ever encounter them later! And who knows, you may learn it, take it back to your academy and never use it yourself, but you might show it to another guy who destroys people with it thus doing your training partners a great deed and helping out your team! Final thought: just stop all the hate and shit talking in Jiu Jitsu! We should all respect ourselves by not disrespecting one another!!! Sorry for the novel, I just love this art as both a self defense and a sport so much!
