WHAT A FUN SATURDAY NIGHT IT WAS! Yall know how I am,how a terrible wreck took away my ability to walk very well, and my ability for sports and such. Im not complaining,my life is really very good,Im just stating a fact. I must admit that I was miserable for just a short while, then I discovered karaoke, and that I could sit on my big dufflebags and have more fun singing than I ever did swinging a golf club. I have my family, friends, and music, and that all makes a very fun, happy life for me. This winter has been very hard to face. Most Saturday nights I have just stayed home in front of the TV. The last two have been great, however. For the longest time,a group of about eight,or ten of us used to ramble together on Saturday nights. Oh,the fun we would have going to different places and singing our hearts out. We were a pretty tight-knit group, but we have all been apart for way too long, and havent gotten to see each other for quite a while. Gosh,I have missed those folks and sure was grateful for the chance to get us all in the same spot at one time, even if it was very briefly. It took some last-minute scrambling, but everyone made it. Last night was very special,as well. Im so glad that I got up and left my warm, comfortable couch behind. I had the rare opportunity to sing with a live band early in the night, and that was such a treat,a wonderful moment! Then,I ran into some of my dearest,long-time karaoke friends. I saw Texas Pete and his bride. There was Lenny,Larry, and Teresa Bryant,Larrys sister,Tammy, and David and Wanda Hight. Oh,what a pleasure to see these folks again! I got to sing a duet with Tammy, and another with David. Gosh, that was fun. I really love those folks! It brought back a wonderful memory of a few years ago, when our friend, the late Mr. Gil Johnson was still the DJ. I had the fabulous opportunity to stand beside Larry Bryant, and David Hight, and sing a song with them! I dont think it was a big deal for them, they probably didnt notice, but it was a huge moment for me! To actually be invited to sing with two great singers that I respect so very much is something I will never forget! The night was so special that it also made me realize that I have become too complacent, and have been going to the same old places way too much. It is time I started revisiting some other karaoke venues that I used to enjoy, but somehow drifted away from. I will get to see more of my old friends that way. Someday I think I might write a book about all the wonderful experiences I have had,and the great people I have met,all through my love for singing and karaoke! Life is good!
