WHAT WOULD WE EVER DO WITHOUT . Ephesians 2:12-13 ... remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. . Last night as we were driving home from the pow wow we got hit by a heavy rainstorm. As we were driving I said, These are the kinds of storms that produce hail. Well, I should have kept my thoughts to myself because the next thing that happened was hail and there was no place to hide as drove down the Oklahoma turnpike. So as traffic slowed down, I just kept on going into the heavy winds, heavy rains and hail. I thank God that we were at the northern end of the large thunder clouds because we quickly got out of the storm and soon saw the full moon and the clouds behind us. We kept driving down the road and an hour later we got to our hotel. The only problem was that I kept seeing the large storm cell behind us. The question was, is it coming to us or going away from us? So we quickly looked at the weather report on our cell phones to see where it was going. Then we got to our hotel room and turned to the weather station and both told us it was going southeast and we were to the west of the storm. . As I started to go to bed, a little relieved that the bad weather was going away from us, I thought to myself, Boy, what would we do without cell phones and televisions where we can go and get a weather report twenty-four hours a day? Then I started to think, what would I do without God sticking with me twenty-four hours a day? It was then that I thought of the words of Paul who reminded us of a life without God. He said, ...remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. It was then that I realized that I did not want to go there ever again. I know what my life without God was like and it was not a very pleasant life. It was a life of misery and despair. It was a life of constant guessing. But as I sat wondering, I could not help but thank my God and Creator that at just the right time He sent His son to bring us near to Him who changed our lives. .
