WHO IS BOIT? THE KNOWN AND THE UNKNOWN By Gitungo Wameere I - TopicsExpress

WHO IS BOIT? THE KNOWN AND THE UNKNOWN By Gitungo Wameere I first met Boit when we were freshmen, I can vividly remember that it was in Hostel D where Martin Kinyua, who was vying for the position of Assistant Secretary General, had invited us to assist him in thinking about his campaign. The agenda of the day was rolled out as expected and after two hours we left Martin’s place. I must say in that meeting Boit was impressive. Later on after we had pledged our support to Martin, it was interesting to see Boit campaigning for Martins rival, Miss Viola Yegon, who later on won the seat with a landslide. But treachery and betrayal being the other name of politics I was not shocked by the sudden change of loyalty by Boit. May be I philosophized a lot, because the shift was just a reflection of Boit’s character. After the campaign period of 2012, I met Boit again late in that year around September when we formed Comrades Socialist Team that provided alternative leadership after a huge chunk of the 26th SGC had gone out for their vacation. CST was basically a group of activists and later on Kenyatta became our defacto leader. In this group we never relied on Boit simply because he was unreliable, bad timer and most importantly not a good activist. Boit is this Kind of a guy who is very cunning. He likes glory but would avoid “problems” at all time. In politics, often, glory is packaged with controversy but Boits craftiness always gravitate him towards pilfering the glory and throwing controversy to others. He always wants to cling to the product but care less about processing it. That is why after last demo, he wanted to twist his managed absence into “martyrdom”. He wanted to play the emotions of students to forget about everything and coronate him as the savior who suffered unwarranted incarceration for them. While in reality Boit deserted students and went hiding . This is the same thing that Boit did in our days of activism. We could plan to demonstrate to the Dean’s office or the Vice Chancellor’s office but more often he never turned up. He is always a man of emergencies. In 2013 campaigns I again became close to Boit, you can remember that he had stepped down. The stepping down was another way to con candidates that who were in the chairmanship race. It was unfortunate My good friend Kenyatta fell prey to this trick. Kenyatta even went ahead to incorporate Boit in his campaign team. Little did he know that Boit had to stepped down so as to be in a position to enter into each an every candidate’s camp and steal some ideas. It was also a way of attracting sympathy from the people and attention from the campus media. In a nutshell Boit is a person whom you cannot understand. You cannot tell what he believes in. He suffers from multiple personality’s disorder basically triggered by sly a urge in him to please everyone. He can tell you a lie in this minute and the next minute quote the Bible for you. In politics you can discuss a brilliant idea with him but when it comes to implementation he dithers. The Writer is a Political Commentator with The 3rd Eye
