WHY MOST DISTINGUISHED SENATOR OKOWA SHOULD BE ELECTED THE NEXT GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE, 2015.-Emma Mormah. In 1991, when he was the chairman of Ika North East local Government area, his tenure can best be remembered as a period of Social and Economic transformation in the lives of the people which he Chaired. Many towns and villages had electricity for the first time with the purchase and distribution of transformers. Again his appointment as the Honourable commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, added value and improvement to the Agricultural sector in the state where he undertook the renaming of the sector with the approval of His Excellency, He introduced cow pea farm in the State, established 1000hectares of oil palm plantation, he initiated the cassava processing project in Delta State,he initiated the provision of modern fishing inputs to fishermen in the state just to mention; but a few. Senator Dr. OKOWA in his capacity as commissioner for water resources development, introduced solar power water schemes in the rural areas. Eighty-Seven communities benefited from the scheme before he left the ministry. This earned the state a commendation during the National council on water retreat held in the State. As commissioner for health, he established the dialysis centre which was equipped through the enormous effort of Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan with the State of the art facilities. Many new Hospitals were built, having the State through his initiative built new primary health care centres, renovated the old and equipped them all across the State. As Secretary to the Delta state Government, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi OKOWA was saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the affairs of the Ministries and playing advisory role to the Governor. This he did perfectly well until he resigned for the Senate through the requisite election.. In the Senate, he remained the best voice of Anioma Nation, he empowered his people and sponsored more than 12 bills in the interest of the entire country and her people. Oh Okowa;what a pride and blessing if elected as the next governor of our dear Delta State.
