::: WOODIES BOUNCE BACK, DENY RATS 10TH WIN ::: Once again the crowds were entertained by a thrilling game of rugby for Saturdays Match of the Round. But the RATS could not hold off a resurgent Eastwood side who bounced back in outstanding fashion from their loss the previous week to win the match 41-24. Despite RATS flyhalf HAMISH ANGUS getting the RATS on the board early with a three pointer through the posts, Eastwood very quickly responded with a try and took it from there, ultimately heading into the sheds with a comfortable 20-3 lead. A fight back by the RATS early in the second half saw BOYD KILLINGWORTH and HARRY JONES plant two for the RATS and the ANGUS conversions had the boys back in the game with just a three points deficit. For all intents and purposes it looked like the RATS once again were leaving their run till late. But the Woodies had other ideas and responded with another try. This week marked the return of some key players in the RATS ranks including JOSH HOLMES, MARTIN COLLINS, MICHAEL ADAMS and their impact on the game was felt. But it was SAM WARD - returning from an injury sustained in Round 2 - who stepped up to add another try from the forwards. With a typical bulldozing manoeuvre, The Brick left a few Woodies in his wake as he barrelled over the chalk to score the RATS third try. Eastwood were desperate for the win however and rallied to put another 2 over the line, the last try heartbreakingly on the bell to deny the RATS their 10th win and an important bonus point. Elsewhere on the back field the COLTS 1st grade could not hold off a rampaging attack by Eastwood with the Woodies taking the match 33-14. Some questionable calls against the COLTS didnt help as they battled both a dominant home side and an ever more slippery and potholed field. Tries to CALLUM LANDRY and TYSON DAVIS with the accurate boot of BEN LYFORD converting were to get the RATS on the board.
