Walking around campus today for the first time in a while, I - TopicsExpress

Walking around campus today for the first time in a while, I imagined a character with a strange condition. Every time he sees someone from a distance, he feels a vague sense of recognition. Like he knows that person from somewhere, but he cant put his finger on it. But how could he know everyone? Does he have some rare disorder? Would it help him to coin a long Latin name for it? Or is it a spiritual gift, a reminder of a time before the veil? And whichever it is, how can he stand the constant sense of reaching for something just barely lost, and how can he keep people from thinking hes crazy? I dont know if the character has any potential, but it did make me think about how we have numerous broad explanatory stories (i.e. myths) that shape the way we think about our minds and bodies. William Morris wrote a wonderful piece for the Four Centuries of Mormon Stories contest that delved into this.
