***Warning: Long post alert! I WARNED you! :-) Looking back on this week (since today is Sunday reflection day), I have come to realize that I have, at times, been like Jonah. Sometimes God calls us to do things that we dont really want to do, just like Jonah going to Ninevah. Over the last year, thats happened to me on many occasions. Weve all been hurt by people, or have people in our lives that we know are not FOR us, but they are there and they are difficult, and sometimes in those instances we feel like we deserve the right to want them to be punished somehow for the wrong theyve done to US. I can get so caught up in what/who is coming against ME rather than ever looking at the wrongs Ive done to others, either outwardly or just in my heart. Its in our flesh to just focus on I, me and my, at least for me anyway. Hearing those words this morning of how SELFISH Jonah was (I have been) really made me kind of sick inside. God is doing a work in EACH of us in His OWN way and in HIS OWN time, not ours. Not mine. I have no authority in anyone elses life. I can only pray that Gods will is done in my life and others lives. Ive also personalized many things this year. Things happen and whoever the enemy has chosen to USE makes it seem SO PERSONAL-but its NOT. Because I love God, and if you do, we have an enemy who seeks to kill and destroy every good thing that God has ordained for us. Our marital relationships, our friendships, work relationships, our relationship with the Lord, all are on our enemies target list and he WILL use people we are close to in order to carry out his works. Instead of making it personal, Im asking God to remind me that it is warfare of another kind and it is not against flesh and blood that we wrestle. I need to armor up! Pray for those who come against you, gossip about you, slander you, whatever the situation- and pray that YOU dont allow that situation to become personal in your heart but that you SEE it for what it really is. I thank God for the times when Im wrestling to understand whats happening in my life. I thank Him when He reveals His truths to me through the messages of the sermons, or through His word, or through His HOLY spirit that dwells within me. Im thankful for those who have gone before us that God has chosen as examples for us to learn from. We are ALL human and we are ALL flawed. Im so thankful for the grace of God that is showered on me daily. I dont deserve it, but its given to me freely and I need to give it freely as well.
