Was it cottage design or not? Several comments were made yesterday that suggested the "Cottage Charmer" was not a cottage design. I would like to offer an opinion and I will let you decide... There are many different types of cottage designs. You have: English Cottage Coastal Cottage Country or Rustic Cottage Shabby Cottage Romantic Cottage French Cottage Swedish Cottage Modern Cottage Some other key words to describe "cottage" are: Light, airy, soft colors, comfortable, relaxed, white and blue for coastal cottage, washable slipcovers, painted finishes, worn painted finishes, high ceilings, collections, cotton, linen, seashells, personal, mix of old and new, rare and inexpensive, simple and ornate, bead board and what you love... The "Cottage Charmer" yesterday was what I considered to be a coastal cottage design. Some of the elements in the design were: blue and white color scheme, cotton, light, airy, seashells, collection, high ceilings etc. To some the word cottage alludes or points to Country/Rustic or what some may refer to as Shabby Cottage Chic. I could not find a clear cut definition of cottage design and is open to personal interpretation. I will let you decide whether the "Cottage Charmer" was indeed a cottage design.
