Watched Punjab 1984. Superb story telling and great performances by each and every actor. Daljit ,Rana Ranbir , kiran kher , director anurag and who ever written the story and dialogues (not sure this was done by anurag himself as says in credentials) are heroes of movie. Some Very good dialogues esp from tari played by rana ranbir who is inqulabi. Crisp editing. Tungsten colours looked nice. It tells u that if u are good story teller u dont need huge sets or foreign locations to glue audience to seats. Songs are situational and melodious. Movie is more of story of son and mother rather than telling you the story of 1984. Protagonists dont pickup guns coz of what happened in golden temple but they do because of other reasons. This name of movie is just used to generate curiousity to pull people in theaters. Name of movie is misleading. This is definitely not a daring movie like sadda haque or maachis. I remember dialogue from maachis when om puri says adhi 47 Khaagi adhi 84 khaagi. Rather in this movie it is said very cheaply by one constable saying military da kita saanu saaf karna pai reha.
