Watching The Five on Fox as they debate whether the Boston - TopicsExpress

Watching The Five on Fox as they debate whether the Boston marathon bomber should get the death penalty... I have problems with the death penalty (1) because recently acquitals are climbing because DNA evidence is finding many on death row to be innocent and (2) because I see instant death as instant relief from what could be a long-term suffering. Such is the fate of family members of the dead who go on to live without those they have loved and lost. Also, the disfigured and survivors of such attacks are sentenced to a lifetime of learning to forget. Why should anyone who causes such pain be never made to suffer at all? Then, they say it costs more to administer the letal injection than to keep an inmate alive for life. Besides the fact that one bullet is wayyy cheaper, I find that price comparison hard to believe. When the Allegheny County jail first opened, the cost to house one inmate was $50,000/year. How much is the injection??? This all brings me to one question: who should we REALLY be paying tax dollars to house? I mean, whom amongst those already incarcerated are the people we DO NOT want walking our streets? I think 95% of those people could probably do house arrest. Theft, drug charges, child support offenders... these people seem pretty non-threatening. If your tax dollars had to pay to imprison people, who would it be?
