We are two Camargue/Delta horses, and until a few days ago we were happily grazing in the meadows of Val Stagnon Nature Reserve (Koper, Slovenia) with our companion Falisca. I (Cabidoule) only recently arrived at this Nature Reserve to keep my friend Rizana company. We were there because our grazing actions help the staff members of DOPPS – BirdLife Slovenia - to maintain this Protected Area. Thanks to our work, we not only keep local ecosystems healthy, but we also indirectly attract wildlife that benefits from our presence. Moreover, (we are a little vain!) we like to think that we are a sort of celebrity for the many children that come to visiting this beautiful Nature Reserve. Rizana has been living in Val Stagnon since 2008, while me and Falisca only arrived in June. I experienced a long, yet enjoyable journey from France to arrive here, thanks to the care of our human friends Borut and Silvio. I arrived after a day of travelling on the 12th of June 2013. After 20 days, on the afternoon of the 5th of July 2013, between 3 and 6 pm something horrible happened to us as you can see from these photos. I was tied to a pole fence and then wounded badly. Rizana, despite being free was also attacked. Around 7 pm, we were eventually discovered by a member of DOBBS in deep pain. He shouted for help, and gathered several people to help us reach the horse trailer. We were taken to a Vet Clinic in Ljubljana. We arrived there at 1 am, and we have been under non-stop care since 3 pm. We are still in the Clinic but feel a bit better. I (Cabidoule) received the worst wounds. We still need serious help and support, as do our human carers, and for the reason they have made this Facebook page to tell you what happened. PLEASE HELP!
