We dont have a round pen at our house so we have hauled Sam to a neighboring ranch a few times. Sue helped me at the clinic play day last weekend teaching me when you lounge you need to give a cue and ask for the gaits not scare or spook the horse into it. Watch what we learned. He increased his trot to an extended, drops down into a jog and canters off without the use of the lounge whip. I am still carrying it and I do use it if he forgets especially at the canter. He likes to break to a trot. We are still working on that.
