We had an emergency at Conduit last Sunday. When it happened many - TopicsExpress

We had an emergency at Conduit last Sunday. When it happened many were called into action. Here is my response: On Sunday many of us came to Conduit expecting a church service. May be to a point of ritual, we would gather, sing, listen, pray, sing and get a final thought with a coffee cup in hand or for some, young people to lead in make-shift classrooms. Although, I do not consider Conduit to have normal Sundays, possibly because of the set-up and tear down, the interaction and exchange of stories, those I have seen taking their needs to the Father in prayer, or the expression and body language of friends who are on or have been on a mission together, I did consider Sunday to be normal. However, God had a different plan. Hebrews 10:23-25 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. When Bryan went down, faith was already at work. Before the first chest compression began, many of you were already calling out for Bryan’s life to be saved. Before we really knew what was wrong, some of you called out to Our Creator. Others had compassion and thought in a hundred different directions. We all wanted the best, we all wanted God to move and as we met together and moments passed, encouragement rang out all over Independence High School as the church all went into action and took steps of faith. This faith, this action, this compassion, this expression of the church represents the truest form of community to me. Community that is forged in crisis, never to be the same again. I don’t know where you are at today, I don’t know all of your thoughts, but in the interaction of those moments we were the Body of Christ. Even in the moment of being stunned at what was happening, you were part of the stirring that happened in that cafeteria. You were moved by the Spirit to action and you responded, some in a natural action and others in a supernatural action, but all in their gifts - from the fingers to the toes, the Body of Christ was alive and “stirring one another to love and good works.” In the end, our actions as a community, as the Body of Christ, brought each of us to our Creator and to our surrender to know that He is in control and He is God. This is what community should always remind us: That God is in control. That He is God. That He uses us in moments, together as a community, for His Glory. Remember this moment and these words, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” God you are faithful, thank you for bringing us to a place of community as your Body for your glory! Thank you for holding our brother Bryan and for your continued sustainment of him and his family. Thank you for challenging us and changing us, for making us more like your Son in challenging moments like this of refinement. Hebrews 10:39 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
