We had great services yesterday at the Midway Church of God. The Holy Spirit ministered in a wonderful way to the people in the morning service! I Peter 3:8: Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful - tenderhearted - be courteous. Courteous: exhibiting courtesy and politeness; characterized by courtesy and good manners. Audio English.net said: Courteous, used as an adjective is rare. Im not sure in what way they mean this, but when you see the way people act, we probably can understand why it may be rare. The traditional words, please, thank you, and youre welcome are disap-pearing in the way people act towards one another. In 2011, some 76% of people surveyed by Rasmussen Reports said Americans are becoming more rude and less civil. At best, thank you, please, and youre wel-come are replaced with something that sounds tossed-of and casual: No Im good, for no thank you; No problem or you bet, for Youre wel-come; My bad for Im sorry. In our day and age could it be we need to get used to such demands without a please, or thank you, when people say: Give me a hand, here! Go get me a coffee! or I need you to take me to the store!? I once told a man: I notice you dont like to say please, or thank you, very much. His response: Thats because Im a Yankee. Well, now I know why we had the civil war! Im a yankee too, but my parents taught me to say, please, thank you, and youre welcome. People react a whole lot better to honey than they do to vinegar! As Col. 4:6 says: Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
