We have a liver. It detoxifies our system. If your diet is sufficient in fibre and micronutrients (vitamins & minerals) you be detoxifying and cleansing your system. If you drink (enough) water you will be detoxifying and cleansing your digestive system. Doing a Detox or Cleanse by eating no food, having some sort of over priced supplement and being nutritionally deficient for a week DOES NOT make you healthy nor is it doing you any benefit. These Detox programs are nothing but a marketing and money making scheme! These people who promote this rubbish have as much nutritional education and understanding as a gold fish. You want to feel better, have more energy, mental focus, not be sluggish, not be bloated or any other of the self proclaimed benefits of doing a detox, all you need to do is have a balanced diet with adequate fluid intake, fibre and micronutrition. Your liver doesnt need a break. It works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year all by itself. You dont need to tell it to. It just does it. Its like your heart. It works all day everyday. You think it needs a break? NO. If your liver needs a break (just like your heart) you are pretty much stuffed! When I hear rubbish about detoxes, my brain needs a break from all the stupidity!
