We have entered into one of the most active patterns I have seen - TopicsExpress

We have entered into one of the most active patterns I have seen in quite a while. Usually, I can focus on just one storm, but this isnt going to be the case with how active things have become. Im going to give you a brief timeline. 1) The big storm that I have been discussing for a good while now is currently developing over New Mexico and the Southern Plains. This could end up being a very big storm up the East Coast, and it is going to take the track that I was expecting (along the Gulf coast states). I have an article coming out tonight that will explain all of this. 2) Cold air is going to rush in behind this system by next week. I expect temperatures to mostly be below-average in the eastern third of the nation with fluctuating temps over the central U.S. For the most part, the western United States will have well-above average temperatures. 3) A clipper system is going to be pushing south into the United States early next week, which will eventually trigger a coastal low to develop along the East Coast. The same areas will likely get hit again! Details are still iffy at this point, and where this coastal low develops will determine how far south the wintry precipitation sets up. Ill explain all of that in an article in a day or two. 4) Its VERY important to point out that after these systems move through, there will be a lot more snow cover over the United States. Only 27.4% of the U.S. is currently covered in snow, but that will be changing quickly. Future Arctic blasts will not modify as much with more snow cover; therefore, the cold blasts could be more severe once we get into February. 5) There could be a significant winter storm at the very beginning of February. If we didnt have so much going on, I would already be talking about this in my articles. I typically try to give you a 8 to 14 day heads up if I see something that looks interesting. Well, heres your heads up! This will be something that I will be discussing further this weekend into next week if the threat still exists by then. Again, be sure to check my article out tonight on the weekend storm. This storm will impact many, so Ill do my best to cover as much as I can. -Matthew
