We invite the public to visit our newly renovated Energy Information Center during an open house from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at 634 Salem Blvd., Berwick. The center, located at the entrance to the Susquehanna Riverlands, has new, interactive displays for visitors of all ages. In conjunction with the open house, we will host a wildlife program and nature hikes. Join Kathy Uhler, director of the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, as she leads us through the lives of hunter and hunted in the habitats of northeastern Pennsylvania from 6-7:30 p.m. This free program will feature live animals from the Rehabilitation Center in Stroudsburg, Pa. Joshua Miller will lead hikes along the Susquehanna Riverside trail in search of mushrooms, plants, birds, and amphibians. These hikes will leave from the Large Pavilion and follow the wooded trail with beautiful views of the Susquehanna River. Nature lovers of all ages will enjoy these easy hikes. Hikes will be conducted at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting. Cookies and punch will be served throughout the event.
