We leave tomorrow morning. We slept over the train tickets bookings and then they were no longer available. We slept over the plane tickets and suddenly they were unaffordable. So we thought lets just drive. Have car, will travel. We leave tomorrow and head north. Past Surat, Baroda and we then bypass Ahmedabad at Anand. Our Gujju friends have always boasted about their roads, well check out their claims. And further on in Rajasthan passing through Modasa and fourteen hours later we will call it a day at Udaipur. There will be four of us in the car, two of them easily bored and always hungry. We have formed car rules. No playing heavy metal music for Andy, Neels EDM is a no-no, and Sudha better not even think of playing any of her ghastly Hindi stuff. No rules apply to me since I am the boss and outside the purview of the law. The next day, if the fog is not too heavy, we kick the kids out of bed by five and head on the second leg. Magical names like Chittorgarh, Bhilwara and Kishangarh. Hope to get some clichéd pictures of gorgeous tall women with their pots on their heads and fiercely moustachioed men squatting on their haunches and squinting into their hookahs. We skirt the gorgeous city of Jaipur and finally we hit the mess that is called Gurgaon. We are visiting Delhi to attend a marriage, and I look forward to sporting a pugree , dancing the Bhangra and eating Chole Bhatura at South Ex Market. I hope to be able to photograph often and upload along the way and create some sort of travelogue over the nine days we are gone.
