Weather permitting, at 11 p.m. Friday night, September 12, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-395/95 from the Washington, D.C. line to the end at Dumfries Road (Route 234) until 8 a.m. Sunday morning, September 14. The HOV lanes will be closed all day Saturday and reopen Sunday morning heading north. The lane closures are needed for ongoing construction work on the 95 Express Lanes Project including installation of overhead structures, paving, and pulling fiber optic lines throughout the entire HOV facility. Motorist will be directed to use the general purpose lanes.
