Wednesday, April 2 10:30 - 4:30 p.m. Honolulu Hale “Fast for Families” comes to Honolulu! Fast for Families has been a very influential movement across the nation to urge our lawmakers to pass comprehensive immigration reform. This Wednesday the Hawaii Coalition for Immigration Reform, Faith Action for Community Equity, and MoveOn.org Honolulu Council are hosting a vigil at the indoor courtyard at the Honolulu Hale Wednesday, April 2 from 10:30 to 4:30 pm to bring awareness to the impact of current immigration laws and how they affect local families. Conservative statistics show that, that in the past year, over 50 families in our state and thousands of families in our nation have been torn apart as parents without any criminal record are deported. As Congress is unable to act on this issue, attendees are asking our City Council to work together to take measures to ensure the protection of our undocumented immigrants, and call on President Obama to suspend the deportation of non-criminal immigrants.
