Wednesday night, June 25th, at the… Sandbar & Grille in Buxton… We had 21 players including one new local registration and a few return players. Chris McGowan, from PA, Jamee Thiele and Bryce Morgan came out to play another free Texas Hold ‘Em tournament on the Outer Banks. Welcome back guys. Bald Zack, this game’s local registration, got a 5K chip up to start his first game with us for registering with the league. The winner took home a $50 Visa Gift Card, second got a $20 Sandbar & Grille gift card and they both qualified for the HIPL 2014 Island Championship in November… 1st or 2nd in any HIPL regular season event. There were three bounties in the game. Eddie Ochs was the only one that did not make the final table. The Donkey Shout Out goes to our new local registration, Bald Zack. He got a donkey drink charm for being the first player eliminated from the game. He’s brand new to the league but something tells me he will figure out what’s up relatively quickly. Welcome Zack. There were three bids for the high hand of the game. Jason Buckner made the first one with a full house, 5s full of 7s. Kayla Charrette won a hand with the biggest full house of the night, 5s full of Kings. Then Capucine Carmen got a 2K chip up for raking a pot after she won a hand with “Quads or better”. Her Quad 6s, 9 high banked her 2000 bonus chips for winning a hand with the High Hand of the night. The Final Table: Jennie Harris made it to her third final table of the season and placed 8th. She moved up five positions in the point standings to twenty third out of 208 players this year, so far. Chris McGowan, returning from last year, made it to the final table in his only game with us this season. He is visiting the Outer Banks from PA and placed 7th. Good game Chris. Josh Waterfield, the league’s newlywed, defended his bounty, made it to his sixth final table of the season and placed 6th. He moved up two positions in the standings to fourteenth, twelve points behind Capucine. Rob Anders made it to his seventh final and placed 5th. He moved up three spots in the standings to twelfth, seventeen points behind Aaron Williams and only eight ahead of Cap. Sonny Quidley III made it to his twelfth final and placed 4th. He is the league leader in the Wins Title race with 4 wins. That’s at least two more than anybody else this year. He is fourth in the overall standings with a thirty seven point lead on Kristina Lambert in fifth. In this game the final table was settled before we got to heads up play. There were three players left when they found themselves in a three way hand with two players all in. Capucine Carmen was at her seventh final table of the season and was willing to settle for second this game. Bryce Morgan and Jason Buckner, two returning players from earlier this season, were both at their second final table of the season; Bryce Morgan in his second game of the year and Jason Buckner in his third, defended his table bounty. All three of them were playing for their first win of the season. The blinds were 5 and 10K with the clock at 10 minute blinds. Bryce was on the button with A-8 off suit. He was under the gun and raised… 25K on top of the big blind, 35K total. Buckner was in the small blind position and called the 35K with J-K suited-hearts. Cap was in the big blind with A-9 off suit and called Bryce’s raise as well. The flop was 8-5-5… Buckner checked with a pair of 5s, King high. Cap checked with the same 5s, Ace high. Bryce bet 35K on his two pair, 8s over 5s, Ace high. Buckner and Cap both called. The turn was the Queen of diamonds… No help for anybody. Buckner checked to the better and Bryce pushed all in. Jason called to put them all all-in. Flip ‘em… And the river is… a 3. More nothing… Bryce won the hand with two pair, 8s over 5s, Ace High. He had both Cap and Jason covered so he won his first game of the season with a total chip count of 337K. He took home the Visa, qualified for the championship in November and was one of the biggest movers in the standings, jumping up thirty eight positions to forty third overall. Jason placed 2nd. He was able to stay in the betting until he called Bryce’s all in. He got the Sandbar gift card, qualified for the championship and was the other biggest mover in the standings, jumping up thirty eight spots to forty seventh. Cap called Bryce’s 35K bet after the flop with only 7K so she placed 3rd and moved up five spots in the standings to thirteenth. Cap has been on a roll this month. She’s played five of the last eight Sandbar games, made the final table in every game and placed 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 5th and 3rd. That’s a finals percentage of 100% with an average finish of better than third (2.8). In June she moved up twenty positions in the standings. Nice run Cap. Keep it up. There were seven players in the Losers’ Lounge. Anna Crum scored two bonus points for placing second. Alex Bravar scored five bonus points and banked 2000 bonus chips for winning in the lounge.
