Well, I did make it out to the shelf last night. And I had the most killer view of the lake and where the moon usually comes up. And then the big orange moon came up over Freel peak, and so it was not over the bay, but way off to the side and a kid needed a wide angle to get everything in, making the moon tiny. I was disappointed, yet happy that I had worked through my fear and didnt puss out. Also, I was able to figure out why I am so frightened of that place. Its like a kitty condo area, 3 large caves, a pond for water, great view of everything around. I dont know if I am more, or less afraid than I was before. Coming down is tricky in the dark too, as there were lots of twists and turns through the cliffs. I lost my way a few times, but not too far off, and was able to find the bleached sticks that I set on my way up...it felt so good to get back to the car alive, and with all of my body parts intact!!! For some reason, I have a feeling that cats remember your smell. I dont know why, but I kept feeling like I was being watched, but left alone because of my recognizable scent. I felt the same thing a few days ago out by Rose knob, looking for my cameras eye piece. Two days before, I heard a cat call twice, then came across a huge hairball on the trail. The day I went to look for my eye piece, I had a strong feeling that it was watching me again, but knew me already. I was never afraid of cats before, as they always left people alone back then. Now its different. Ive been stalked now 3 times, once all night and for 2 miles the next morning. One time for about 4 hours while shooting the full moon at lake Aloha, and another in Sierraville at the hot springs. The one at the hot springs was HUGE! I heard later it had been killing peoples dogs. It was aggressive, and tenacious. The best part of my evening, was coming back in the dark, and seeing all of the sparkles in the granite from the headlamp!!! Like diamonds lighting my way!!! Fun how subtle things can make you the most happy!
